Meet the Artist
Lindsay Albers creates work grounded in close observation of the natural world, drawing particular inspiration from birds, fish, and expansive landscapes. Her practice centers on moments of quiet attention, where encounters with living forms and environments become starting points for reflection rather than documentation. Rather than striving for strict realism, Albers seeks to convey presence, movement, and atmosphere—capturing what it feels like to witness these subjects rather than simply how they appear.
Birds and fish recur as motifs for transition, vulnerability, and resilience. Often positioned between visibility and disappearance, these forms reflect the delicate balance of natural systems and the fleeting nature of human connection to them. Landscapes function as both place and metaphor, holding traces of time, memory, and ecological change. Through these subjects, Albers explores the relationship between scale and intimacy, stillness and motion.
Process plays a central role in Albers’ work. Materials and mark-making respond to the rhythms of nature itself, allowing intuition and structure to coexist. The resulting works remain open-ended, inviting viewers into a contemplative space where looking becomes an act of care. By foregrounding attentiveness and restraint, Albers’ practice encourages a deeper awareness of the living world and our responsibility within it
